Rajgad Bus Route and Place to Stay

My name is ZZZ, I'm a French student and I am trying to organize my next trekk (this week-end) to Rajgad fort (on Saturday) and Torna on Sunday. I have found several information about it on your website www.punetrekkers.com, but there's still a point I am missing.
I am writting to you because I am not sure to understand if, and how I can get there. I stay in Pune, and I have seen the main route to go reach the base, via Nasrapur, then Gunjawane. The thing is I am not sure that buses can take me there.

I then wanted to know if you had any information about this topic, or any other inputs that could help me plan this trek ? My main concerns are about this transporation issue, and also finding a place to stay between Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you in advance for any feedback you can give me, and also thank you for your helpful website :).

Answer

There are buses from Swargate Bus Dep to the Gunjawane village. I'm not sure of the exact timing of the bus, but the first one is at 6:30am and the next at 9am. But, I would not recommend that you travel by bus. Instead go on your own vehicle. There is a parking lot at the base of Rajgad fort where you can park your vehicle.

There are no hotels or resorts near the base village of the fort. Hence, if you do plan to stay, you will have to stay on the fort itself. There are temples where you can spend the night. Tents wont be that useful as it is the rainy season. You can stay on either Rajgad or Torna for the first night. You do not have to get down to go to the next fort. Instead, there is a ridge that connects the two forts.

Also for safety reasons, I hope that you have at-least 4-5 people along with you. Let me know if you have any other queries. Thanks for checking our site. Happy Trekking.
